Summer Reading Registration begins June 7!

We are getting ready for our favorite part of summer: Summer Reading! This year's theme is "Scare Up a Good Book," and it looks like the library has some new monster friends for you to meet and read with!

Kids up to grade 5 can read 10 hours or more to be eligible for our prizes. Kids entering grades 6 through 8 must read at least 1000 pages to get a chance to win. Check out our display case and see all the great prizes!

Along with our Summer Reading Program, we will have many weekly storytime and fun activity programs this summer. We'll also visit the Lincoln Park Zoo, meet some watch a Monday movie, play Live Clue, and sleep over at the library!  Check the Bookshelf, Northlake Library's newsletter, for details on all of our programs and events.

All summer reading programs require in-person registration. Registration begins Monday, June 7, so mark your calendars!

May is Asian/Pacific Heritage Month

Did you know?

  • Asia is the largest continent on the planet.

  • Chinese is the language spoken by the most people in the world.

  • The country of Indonesia is made up of over 17,000 islands!

This month is Asian and Pacific Island Heritage Month, when we celebrate Asian Americans' traditions and achievements. We have lots of nonfiction and fiction books about different Asian people, nations, and customs at the library.
