At this time, we only have the option to print using a filament type called PLA.  It’s a versatile plastic with a wide range of uses, however it is a bit more brittle and less heat resistant than other types of filament.

We charge $0.10/gram of filament used.  Before a print job is started, we can give patrons a rough estimate of the final cost.

The length of time it takes to print an object depends on how large the object is.  We can offer a rough estimate of the amount of time a particular job will take to finish before starting the print.  We will always strive to provide completed print jobs to patrons in a timely matter, and in the order the submissions were received.

There are occasions, however, when technical constraints, mechanical difficulties with the machine, lack of available trained staff, or very large print jobs with multiple pieces can extend the time it takes to finish prints.  We will inform patrons of any potential delays at the time of submission.

Patron can print anything (with some restrictions) that can physically fit on the build plate of the 3D printer.  We encourage patrons to look for freely available .stl files on 3D print databases: thingiverse.com, printables.com, yeggi.com, cults3d.com, or makerworld.com.  Patrons are also welcome to bring their own, self-designed files.

Per our library policy, there are a few types of objects that patrons are not allowed to print:

• Objects that look like or can be used as weapons
• Objects that are considered obscene or inappropriate for a library environment
• Objects otherwise prohibited by federal, state, or local laws
